Author(s): Sylvia V. Linsteadt

Senior Fiction | Junior Fiction | Fantasy & Magic | Social Issues & Relationships

When Tin, an orphan City boy with a passion for invention, and curious Country girl Comfrey are visited by two young hares, it is the start of a magical quest. To stop the City from ravaging the Country, they must complete seemingly impossible challenges set by the mystical Wild Folk to find the one who holds the secret to saving their world.

Review: a lyrical, beautifully-crafted allegory about our relationship with the environment and our responsibilities for the world around us. It is also a fabulous story for readers aged nine years plus about Comfrey, a girl from the country, and Tin, a boy from the city, who set off on a quest to help save the 'Wild Folk' in their strange and amazing world. * The Reading Zone *

beautifully written and it captures every moment with incredible description. * Scoop Magazine *
Environmental and dystopian themes run through this wondrous story, while the wildness of Farallone and bravery and determination of Tin and Comfrey will surely find a place in every reader's heart. * BookTrust *
I savoured every moment of this glorious book! An epic quest in a beautiful, troubled world that mirrors ours yet is utterly unique - full of its own ancient myths, magic and wisdom. The Wild Folk is both a thrilling tale and song to the natural world, and will resonate deeply with wild, adventurous souls everywhere. I fell in love with so many of the characters; bold and curious Comfrey, thoughtful and inventive Tin, the wise and playful leverets Myrtle and Mallow, and the vast and awesome diversity of the Wild Folk. I am hugely excited to see what the future holds for them all in book two! * Sophie Anderson, author of The House with Chicken Legs *

Author Biography: Sylvia V. Linsteadt lives in a pine forest near the ocean at the edge of California, with mostly deer and foxes for neighbours. When she isn't writing novels, short stories or poems about the lives of wild creatures or the magic of old myths, she likes to wander the hills looking for animal tracks or medicinal herbs. And one day a week she works in a bookshop in Point Reyes.
