Panni Palásti was born in Budapest, Hungary, and educated there. She entered the United States as a refugee after the defeat of the Hungarian revolution in 1956 and continued her studies in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She worked as a teacher and journalist in California before sailing with her husband and son to New Zealand in 1973. She lived in Russell for 28 years, where she published the Russell Reviewand started the Russell Writers’ Workshop. She moved to Nelson in 2002.

Her poems have been published in Hungary, the US and New Zealand.

Panni Palásti Budapesten született és ott végzett az ELTE irodalmi szakán 1956-ban.

A forradalom leverése után Ausztriába menekült és onnan Amerikába, ahol tovább tanult New Yorkban, San Franciscoban és Los Angelesben. Kaliforniában dolgozott mint angol tanár és újságíró mielőtt férjével és fiával Új-Zélandba vitorláztak 1973-ban. Kikötöttek Russellban, ahol Palásti elindította és szerkesztette a Russell Reviewt és kezdeményezte a Russell Irók Műhelyét. 2002-ben költözött Nelsonba, ahol csatlakozott a Nelson Live Poets Group-hoz. Versei megjelentek Magyarországon, Amerikaban, és Új-Zélandon.
