Author Biography: Patrick Chamoiseau was born 1953 in Martinique, and studied law in Paris before returning to the Caribbean. He is the author of numerous works of Caribbean history and fiction, and was awarded France's highest literary honour, the Prix Goncourt, for Texaco.
